Naren Vellanki

Naren Vellanki, MD, is a third year Psychiatry Resident and President-Elect of the House Staff Council (HSC) at University of Louisville. Dr. Vellanki received his B.S. in Finance from the Ohio State University and M.S/M.D. from University of Toledo. He frequently lectures medical students on topics such as substance use disorders and dementia. He enjoys being involved in organized medicine and currently serves as a resident delegate for Greater Louisville Medical Society (GLMS). Dr. Vellanki was appointed as the first Wellness officer of the HSC to address resident wellbeing and burnout. His outside interests include running, listening to audiobooks and meditating. Dr. Vellanki speaks four languages, English, Hindi, Telugu and Tamil. His wife completed her Master’s degree in Physiology at University of Louisville and is currently applying to medical school. Dr. Vellanki lives with his wife and two cats, Majin Buu and Billie Jean.
